~This or That~

HELLO THERE!
Paige at Your Trainer Paige posted a great post on Friday titled This or That Health and Fitness Edition. I have to say it was a super awesome post... so I decided to join in! If you have a blog you should post a THIS OR THAT as well. Don't forget to mention Paige in your blog and leave me a comment below... I'd love to stop by your blog and see how we compare! =)
Here goes...
1. Run/workout in the heat and humidity or freezing temps and snow?
I would much rather have the heat. We don't have snow where we are (nearby) so I really can't give an honest answer on this one! =) Sunny is really all I know.
2. Have washboard abs or flat abs?
Flat abs!
3. Dr. Oz or The Doctors?
The Doctors. I like their segments a lot better.
4. Cardio or strength?
Strength. I HATE cardio...
5. Cravings: Protein or carbs?
Proteins... I love my shakes, Greek yogurt, and eggs!
6. Jillian Michaels or Bob Harper?
Bob Harper! I am not a fan of Jillian's approach! ;-)
7. Frozen Yogurt or Ice Cream?
Ice cream. Ice cream really is my favorite food!!
8. To train: Upper body or Lower body?
I used to be a lower body junkie, but recently I have seen great results training my upper body. I have to say this one is a tie.
9. Protein powder or food with protein?
Powder! I love something quick and nutritious!
10. Lunges or squats?
Squats!! Although... I had a trainer once tell me the butt I wanted would be found with both lunges and squats! Keep it classic =)
11. Sweet or salty?
sweet tooth all the way!!
12. Workout attire: cute or comfy?
CUTE! I love my tees with quotes (if you haven't noticed) and rhinestones on my gloves!
13. Body Pump or Heavy lifting?
Heavy lifting. I have always been small so I have to lift heavy to see results.
14. Yoga or Pilates?
Both. I love yoga to unwind and for a good stretch BUT I love a great Pilates class.
15. Nike or Adidas?
If we were going for looks... NIKE! BUT I have to say I have had the best of luck with Reebok Real Flex and my Asics 2170s.
16. Running on the treadmill or outdoors?
awwwwwh! do I have to run? ;-) TREADMILL!
17. Whole Foods or Trader Joe’s?
If I had a Whole Foods near me I bet I would say Whole Foods. I love Sprouts Farmers Market and from what I understand they are similar.
18. Summer or Winter Olympics?
Summer!
19. Exercises classes or Exercise videos?
Classes, Classes, Classes!! I love building relationships. I love spin class, Pilates, and Yoga at the gym. I do have a few DVDs, but I find that I do better if there is a set time to attend a class. Besides.. you wouldn't want to be late and have to take the broken bike up in the front ;-)
20. Steamed veggies or roasted veggies?
Roasted! Nick is a grill master and I love when he grills veggies on our BBQ!

What do you prefer?
Don't forget to let me know if you joined in!!

Marvelous in My Monday

What is MARVELOUS in YOUR MONDAY this week??
Head over to The Healthy Diva for more MARVELOUS IN MY MONDAY posts!!

This weekend was a little bit of hectic with a dash of chaos on top. Despite my plans... I did not make it to the gym this weekend, but that's okay... better luck next time! =)
My Starbucks green tea got me through the weekend alive!! The TRENTA size has to be the best thing Starbucks could have ever come up with... in my opinion!

There isn't a whole lot of MARVELOUS to share, but I did get a chance to think about something I really wanted to share. I read a blog posted by Kacie at Savvy Sassy Me. She wrote a post titled Workout Burnout-Overcoming the Fitness Funk. I read through it and her post hit close to home with me. Kacie hits nails it on the head when she says,
"Being too healthy can become unhealthy."
We have all seen it or experienced it. Becoming healthy becomes an obsession and at certain points the obsession can become unhealthy. I see this happen a lot. People start "strict diets" on a Monday and before you know it is Wednesday and they have given up. The extreme restrictions become unhealthy ultimately making a person fail at his/her goal. Please read her article then consider the following...

They say it takes about 21 days to change a habit. Start small and don't try to change everything at once... this rarely works. If your plan is to eat healthy... don't do a strict salads only diet and please don't get sucked in to an "easy" fad diet. Those never work... if they did there would only be a couple... not fifty different ways to lose 30 pounds in one week!

Pick up a book, follow inspiring blogs, choose better magazines. I can't begin to tell you how much this changes my habits. I love Tosca Reno, The Eat Clean DietClean Eating Magazine and Oxygen Magazine. I stand behind Oxygen Magazine and Clean Eating Magazine 100%. There really is no other method I believe in. Results will come from changing your lifestyle and eating whole foods. 100 calorie packs are not the answer. I can't even begin to tell you the countless blogs I find inspiring. I love Katie at Healthy Diva, Meg at A Dash of Meg, Jessie at Jessie Loves to Run... really the list is endless. I will create a tab with blogs I love to follow just for you to check out if you are interested.

These really are just my thoughts on a healthy lifestyle. It really is about finding balance and educating yourself on what is right and wrong. You can't believe all of the advertisements you see. It really does make me chuckle when people say they have cut out CARBS or they eat only salads and veggies. People make these decisions not based upon knowledge, but what they have heard and what is being SOLD to them. Companies will sell the idea of health whenever they can. Please make sure you understand why you are doing the things you are doing. Cutting out carbs and eating salads and veggies only is a little contradicting--- if you really understand what you are doing. ;-)

Send me your thoughts!!
Happy Monday!!

Senioritis...

Yes my friends, I have Senioritis. With about 280 days left in my college days I have come down with a bad case of senioritis. For those of you who don't know, here is the Urban Dictionary's definition of senioritis-
Type 1 Senioritis-
Most common form of "senioritis" and most contagious.
symptoms within the student:

1. Lack of homework completion
2. Procrastination through reasoning

I do my best to stick to this training split, but sometimes things come up. My weekends are planned around Nick's scheduled...if Nick has the weekend off from work I will usually take the weekend off from the gym. I sometimes throw in a spin class here and there or mix things up depending on my schedule for the week.

Do you have a set training split?

Oh yeah..that's me =)
I am extremely ready to graduate and move on to something different.

My gorgeous Femme Fitale Fitness gloves came this week. I LOVE THEM.  I am hooked and I think I will be getting the all pink ones very soon. I love the rhinestone detail on the front... everything is better with a little sparkle! =)
My Sweat Pink Ambassador bio page is up on Fit Approach. Click here to check it out. Let me know what you think!! =)
I am ready for the weekend!! =) Especially since my procrastination has led me to have some homework I must get done. Whooopsie. I love weekends... not only do I get to be home and do the things I love (usually), but I get to spend a little bit more time in the gym since I don't have to rush off to work.

Speaking of Friday... Tomorrow is HIGH FIVE FRIDAY with A Dash of Meg. I have missed it the last two weeks simply because I have been so busy, but I am excited to post tomorrow's high five. I love this blog series....it really does give everyone an opportunity to give themselves a high five for a change. We tend to forget that it is the little things that help us accomplish our goals.
I love working out arms... Mainly Biceps. Here is my biceps focused workout I incorporate in my back & biceps day! Always remember to challenge yourself. Lifting weights will not make you bulky.

~*CHO-mama*~

Hey ya'll!!
I was sent a package from Chobani today! Excited doesn't even describe my emotions properly!
They sent me lemon (I can't find this by me) and chocolate chunk! I love the chocolate chunk!! It really is like their box says...
"Nothing, but good."
What's your favorite Chobani flavor? Could there possibly be a Chobani giveaway in the future?!? ;-) sounds like you'll have to stay tuned! :-)
This week was packages week! =) My Asics came too today. I got yellow and turquoise 2170s. Nick has a really hard time finding shoes that work for running. He discovered Asics 2170s and has been hooked. I decided to give them a shot since I had reward bucks and a good coupon for Finish Line. I will have to let you know how they work for me! =)
Well, I've found myself a new addiction.. .High Wired Custom Tees. I have been on the look out for some cute workout clothes and I am starting to make progress! =) I had a couple tees done up for myself and I love them. I can't wait to get more. I have been trying to think hard about some cute quotes to put on a tee.

I have been getting a lot of comments on my arms recently. My plan is to write down the workouts I do so I can share them with you guys. I must say... I really hate cardio so I try to do circuits, super sets (2-3 exercises, one right after the other), and lots of plyos. If you aren't familiar with plyos it is short for plyometrics. Plyos are quick, explosive movements in your routine. My first set of plyos when I started weight training was jump squats. I LOVE THEM! Try to do 15 jump squats instead of 15 standard non-weighted squats.

~*THANKFUL*~

I just thought I would check in with you all on this Fabulous Friday. I wasn't too sure what to post so I posted the first picture Nick and I took together for my Junior Prom in 2007. He looks completely different...in fact he looks like another guy! Who knew I'd find the love of my life on Myspace ;-)

He has a little less hair, a smile with teeth (I finally got him to show his teeth when he smiles), and the same sparkly eyes! I really am a lucky woman!!
Here are a few of my other loves...
Addicted to Roasted Garlic Hummus and raw veggies! The cucumbers are my favorite!

Addicted to my PicsArt app on my phone. I edit pictures with my app and send them to my Mom. I'm sure she gets tired of seeing pictures with sayings from me, but whatever! =)

Still loving the Good Earth tea in White Tea Vanilla. I might be obsessed!

I said yesterday I have a few fitness packages on their way to me in the mail. I am really excited about this one!! I am working on some new giveaways for you all. I just have to sit down and put together all the pieces of the puzzle! =)

How was your Friday? I am so excited it is the weekend!

Remember to always tell your loved ones and family how much you love them and appreciate them. I love sending random texts to my family when I am thinking of them. I also love writing Nick notes to tell him I LOVE YOU! I usually write the same thing I have for years, but I know when he is reading them it makes his day better...I hope.

Show your love!!

~*Hello There Gorgeous*~

It has been over one week since I last posted. This last week has been such a blur and has moved so quickly. I obviously haven't had time to sit down, collect my thoughts, and write a post.
I missed a High Five Friday with Meg and a Marvelous in My Monday with Katie at the Healthy Diva.
BUT!!! I am back =)
My Sweat Pink package came from The Fit Approach this week! So excited to start giving away these Sweat Pink laces! Who is first?! "Kicking ass is best done in pretty shoes!" ;-)
Mail time...mail time...MAIL TIME!! My LaraBar package came too this week. I was sent the Cappuccino, Gingersnap, Pineapple Upside Down Cake, and Bananas Foster.
I thought the Gingersnap was my favorite... until I tried the Pineapple Upside Down Cake. That is for sure my favorite now. Sad part is... they don't have it at my Sprouts. *Womp, womp, womp*
We went to the river over the weekend and OF COURSE I brought along my favorite LaraBar! =)

I have some orders in the works for new fitness gear, but I am not sharing until they have arrived! =)
Tomorrow is Friday and it is much needed!

Thank you all for being patient while I get back in to the motion of everything. As always... I update my
Twitter and Instagram (@annar31) daily.

I am interested... WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE FITNESS/HEALTHY LIFESTYLE PRODUCT?!?
Share with my by sending a comment or message my way. I know a lot of women love Lululemon gear and I really want to start collecting some good workout gear. What else do you love? A certain protein powder, shirt, shoe, etc. ?? =)
Send me messages! I would love to hear from you!!
Talk with you soon!!

What I Ate Wednesday

Hello there!
I haven't done a What I Ate Wednesday post in quite a while, but here we are!
What I Ate Wednesday is hosted by Peas and Crayons! Fun, Food & Fitness is the theme for July. This means along with my EATS I will also share some of my favorite FITNESS with you... FUN! ;-)
Here we go...
Pre-Workout was my chocolate protein and an apricot just before I hit the gym floor! I recently watched a video post by Natalie Jill that talked about pre-workout meals. She suggested protein with piece of fruit before hitting the gym floor! Check out the video here for more information!

Post-workout I filled up on my favorites! Egg whites, spinach, and zucchini! I love buying the egg whites in the carton already separated. So much easier!!!

I took my lunch to work in this BEAUTY! Super cute lunch bag for girls on the go! ;-)
10:30AM meal came quickly! I chowed down on an apricot, Strawberry CHOBANI, and walnuts! I love the mixture. Here's a fun tip... Plain 0% Chobani as a substitute for sour cream! It taste IDENTICAL!!
I took a picture this morning before heading to work. I added chicken that I cooked in the microwave.
Ziploc Zipn' Steam Bags is how I cooked them. If you haven't tried these steamer bags yet YOU MUST! I really think they are the greatest product for eating healthy. I cook three chicken tenders in the bag with some Mrs. Dash for 7minutes. Moist and fully cooked every time. I cooked today's chicken in a little salsa.
Snack time!!! I had a LaraBar and a scoop of Peanut Butter. Kind of quick... maybe not the best choice, but it worked! =)

I have to share my Tea Tag with you from my Good Earth Tea! I love the Vanilla White Tea!!! YUM!
"He who would leap high must take a long run"
-Danish Proverb

Dinner is served by my love! Asparagus and steak!! Of course I cut the fat off of it and I didn't quite eat it all before I got full.
Smoothie pops!! Nick made a thick smoothie of strawberries, bananas, and yogurt. Frozen in Popsicle molds they are a great sweet, Summer treat!
FINALLY... here is the FITNESS portion of my What I Ate Wednesday. I like to do a circuit just after I finish my weights before I head to do cardio!
Peace. Love. Fitness.

~*Marvelous in My Monday #6*~

It is that time again... another Monday!
I will be honest with you all... I did not want to get up this morning and head in to work. I resisted the urge to stay in bed and headed in to work! GO ME! ;-)
It is time for MARVELOUS IN MY MONDAY!

Saturday I went to go see the Katy Perry 3D movie with my Mom, Aunts, and Cousins. I loved it! I am SO GLAD I didn't drag Nick to go see it. He would have been miserable!

I got some more pictures from Father's Day! My smile is a little off in this one, but I love it! I love how handsome Nick looks in his fancy polo shirt!! We took this picture down in Long Beach at Belmont Brewing Company. My family has gone there for years for Father's Day and it has become one of the places Nick and I love to go when we have time off. The patio dining area over looks the water and the Queen Mary. Gorgeous!
I have to share this MARVELOUS with! No we didn't win the lottery, but I love finding these scratch tickets next to Nick's chair. He cracks me up. I always see them and wonder if we won... BUT I guess if we won something big he would have woken me up! ;-)
I started my goals challenge yesterday and set up a routine for me over the next four weeks. I used my planner all day today to track how I was getting myself closer to accomplishing my goals! I look forward to some big changes and the feeling of ACCOMPLISHMENT here soon!! MARVELOUS...right?
I wrapped up and shipped the giveaway gift to Jaren at Kiwi Fit Blog. I am so excited for her to get it. Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip has become my favorite LaraBar!
Speaking of giveaways... I reached out to one of my favorites, Chobani and guess what?!?! They let me know that they would sponsor a giveaway on my blog and send a case of CHOBANI to the winner. I am super excited for this... ARE YOU?? I love Chobani products... I especially love to add different things to my Greek yogurt to make it more of a meal. ;-) Details coming soon on how you can participate in this giveaway!!
Finally, I was able to find the book-a-zine from Oxygen, Flat Belly Guide! I am super stoked to read this. Honestly, I haven't gotten through the other two I got early last week, but I have a MARVELOUS three day weekend coming up.... I hope it allows time for catching up on my 'zines!

Please share what was MARVELOUS in your Monday this week! Also, will you be participating in the Chobani giveaway on my blog?! Let me know!!

Check out the MARVELOUS posts on the Healthy Diva Eats blog! If your Monday wasn't so MARVELOUS we have a lot of love and hugs to send your way!

Double-Sided Fears

I read an article by Natalie Jill called Make Your Own Luck! It is a great article and really made me start thinking.
Our lives are built by what we choose to do and choose not to do.
After reading I decided to read Natalie's post, Accomplish Your Goals and I am hooked. I will be starting the three tier process for setting my goals tonight. I am looking forward to getting my feet moving.
We tend to have big dreams and big ideas and out of fear we never act upon them. We are afraid of failure or stepping out of our comfort zone.
When I really stop to think about it... there is a double-sided fear on goals.
The first fear is failure...
The second fear is growing old and never knowing what could have been.

In this case... what are WE waiting for?
I don't know about you, but time flies very fast around here.
I am a big dreamer... full of extravagant dreams!
I am going to use my planner to track my goals in order to make them reality.
Let me know if you too will be reevaluating your goals and taking the steps to start tracking them.
Tomorrow is Monday and I am looking forward to a fresh start! =)

One Lovely Blog Award

Hello friends!
I was nominated for the One Lovely Blog award by Jessie at Jessie Loves to Run !

Thank you Jessie for the blog love!
Here are the steps to complete this beautiful blog award...
1.Link back the blogger who nominated you (check)
2.Paste the award image on your blog... (check)
3.Share 7 facts about yourself (keep reading)
4.Nominate some other blogs for the award and comment on each of the nominees' blogs letting them know (BELOW too ;-) )

Fun Facts You Didn't Know...
1. I took three years of P.E. in high school.. when only two years were required. Yes my friends... I failed two semesters of P.E. I absolutely hated running and working out for P.E. Interesting when you consider that I am absolutely addicted to the gym and a healthy lifestyle! ;-)

2. I am obsessed with Marilyn Monroe, Lady Gaga, and Katy Perry. I think Marilyn is so glamorous and I would give anything to have the same glamorous wardrobe as her.
3. I have a brother that is four years older than me! He is an artist and lives about an hour away from me with his beautiful girlfriend. We actually get along believe it or not ;-)

4. As much as it pains me to say this... I am addicted to reality TV. I don't usually watch TV, but when I do I am always watching a reality show! Nick usually has the remote ;-) while we are talking about Nick... in case you didn't already know... Nick is my gorgeous, supportive boyfriend that I met on MySpace when I was 15. Yes, MySpace! ;-)

5. I have never been snowboarding. Nick LOVES snowboarding and I have never been. We don't live too far from the snow, but I'm not a huge fan of the cold.

6. I prefer sweets over salty! I could eat ice cream, brownies, and cookies all day. I am not a huge fan of chips, Cheetos, or anything like that. My weakness is in the sweets!

7. I have dreams of becoming a personal trainer and gracing the pages of some form of a fitness magazine. I don't ever tell people this...ever! I am not sure if this will really ever happen, but it is worth mentioning!

There you have it folks... my 7 fun facts!

Monday or Thursday?

I went through my day today completely confused. With yesterday being 4th of July I had the day off. When I returned to work today it felt like Monday. Two Mondays this week... awful! =)
I am excited that I remember tomorrow is Friday... or I would have missed my opportunity to have my post included in A Dash of Meg's High Five Friday!
With the 4th on Wednesday and a Birthday to celebrate it has been a not so great week for healthy eating!
Here are some pictures from the 4th with my beautiful Cousins and
with my love (he hates being serious)

I found this article on Body Building.com, Woman's Lean Sexy Bible! It is awesome. There are plenty of great videos and tips for women. I love that the article addresses the one reason why I think women avoid weights...
"I don't want to get bulky!"

I also love this video from Natalie Jill on You Tube! She discusses the purpose of the different types of protein. This is something I really needed some help on, especially Casein protein. Click here to see the video that discusses the confusion of proteins!
My second favorite video from Natalie Jill is on Pre-workout! Pre-workout is as important as Post-workout. Click here to see this awesome short video!
Check out Natalie Jill's blog for more inspiration and great information!!

I am so excited tomorrow is Friday! I am ready for the weekend!
I came home today to some GORGEOUS roses from my LOVE!!

It's Red. White. & Blue.

Happy 4th Of July my FIT FRIENDS!
Nick woke up early today to head in to work for a few hours, but once he is off it is TIME TO CELEBRATE!
Having the day off right in the middle of the week is really odd. I kept thinking yesterday was Friday and today is Saturday... but I have to work tomorrow... ODD!
I'm hoping to take lots of pictures today at our family BBQ and share with you all tomorrow or Friday!
My 4th of July nails are complete and full of firework-sparkles!!
Nick is heading home and I think we might hit the gym before we head out for our 4th of July BBQ! I am super excited to have a day off with the love of my life!
Don't forget to sign up on the right for an automatic email feed of my blog!
As always, I will be updating my Instagram during the day too! @annar31

Happy 4th of July my Fabulous Friends!

~*I Sweat Pink*~

Read the post title and think two things...
1. if you don't know me you'll think, "what? This girl is nuts!"
2. know me and think, "you sweat pink AND glitter!"
Yes that's right folks... I love pink and I love glitter and well... I love the two together ;-)
Yesterday I posted that I have been chosen to be a Sweat Pink Ambassador!
The question I got... What is a Sweat Pink Ambassador? Here is the best way I can put it... I try really hard to share my passion for healthy eating and fitness with everyone I encounter. Although I love my clean diet that is full of water, green tea, Greek yogurt, and much, much more, I appreciate the fabulous things in life. Yes my friends... I eat cake, I enjoy a glass of wine, and YES I really do love ice cream! If I said I didn't enjoy these things... I would be lying!
I love to motivate people to be and do their best and try to start the encouragement by setting the example. It would be really hard to expect people around me to eat healthy or exercise if I wasn't doing it myself. There is a program that will work for any person, any lifestyle, and any circumstance... I promise... we just have to find what works best for you. I am always looking for the newest and greatest thing in this industry... but I look for realistic things that are effective! =)

Here is how I got hooked and applied to become a Sweat Pink Ambassador...

"Do you have a passion for inspiring others on their journeys to health? Do you believe that strong is the new skinny, pink is the new black, and that a positive attitude and whole foods are a healthier route to happiness than self-loathing and 100-calorie snack packs?"

I answered yes to these questions and applied... and here we are! =)
So I guess you could say my new mission is to remain the same... inspire others, lead by example, and find great, healthy things to live by. The only difference now... I will be promoting a sisterhood of pink shoelaces, endless support all over the world, and SWEATING PINK!!!

"Sweat Pink Ambassadors live the Fit Approach mission every day: they sweat hard, play hard, and inspire those around them to achieve their best selves."
